Im in there somewhere
Tonight my kids just amazed me.
At dinner Abby got up after just one bite and climbed the counter top 4 times to get everyone a drink of water, without being asked or told. She told me that God told her to do it. I was reminded of the verse where Jesus said
Give a cool cup of water to someone who is thirsty, for instance. The smallest act of giving or receiving makes you a true apprentice. You won't lose out on a thing."
Matthew 10:42 (The Message
It was sweet to watch Abby living her love out loud.
We had a conversation of heaven. It was fun to tell the kids how great the kingdom of God would be. Mason asked if we would celebrate Christmas, I said we wouldn't need to because there would be no need to remember the one we celebrate when he is right there with us. Mason was very excited of this notion and asked if it would be Christmas everyday. I said well yes kind of, and he asked if there would be presents everyday. I thought about this because in a sense there will be a new present everday but not the kind he was thinking of. I thought this notion to hard to explain until Abby piped up and said "Mason they will not be the kind of presents you are thinking of, like kid toys and kid presents, it will be the presents of God." Pretty much summed it up.
Later on we were just laughing and having a good time when I asked Mason a question, he seemed lost in thought. He causually answered me and said "oh sorry mom I was listening to God and He said I needed to give all my allowance to Ethiopia" I was rather shocked he had been saving up a while for a nintendo Ds game (obsessively for a few months, I was wandering if he would care to share his money with the poor but decided against saying anything to him about it.) I asked him how he came to that conclusion to so willingly give up all his money for someone else. He told me that God spoke to him and told him to look down at his food so he did, then he said he just knew what he had to do and that he didn't need a nintendo Ds game when there were people who were hungry and he had food. I was so proud of him in a Godly sort of way. I know that God says we need to be like children, I think this is a good place to start, at the dinner table. I know God was sitting down with us enjoying the conversation.
